Therese Hughes MBE
Therese Hughes, an experienced hairdresser, with over seventeen years of experience, is the proprietor of the Boutique. She owned several hairdressing salons before deciding to exclusively focus her expertise in providing wigs and hairpieces. She provides a service for patient suffering hair loss as a result of treatment for cancer, alopecia and for various other reasons. Therese felt compelled to launch this service after watching a woman going through the distress of hair loss following chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. It became apparent to her at that point that the psychological needs of the clients were of prime importance and too often ignored. Since then she is constantly attending courses and developing new skills that will enable her to acknowledge and provide a service satisfying the holistic needs of the clients as individuals.
Kylie Minogue OBE
On the same day as Therese Hughes recieved her MBE , from HRH Prince Charles. As to what passed between the prince and the showgirl, she said: 'He just asked what I'm up to at the moment and was happy to see me better,' - a reference to her successful fight against breast cancer.
'If anyone had told me when I was 14 that one day I would be with my family at Buckingham Palace, I just wouldn't have believed them,' she said.
The diminutive singer wore 5in heels for the ceremony but still had to look up to Charles, who was standing on a podium.
