Established in Newry, County Down, in 1988 by Therese Hughes MBE, Tresses has built Tresses to be the biggest wig company on the entire island of Ireland, with a reputation for providing compassionate, personalised care to individuals experiencing hair loss, whether as a result of alopecia, chemotherapy, or other medical conditions.

With specialist stores in Newry, Belfast, Derry / Londonderry in Northern Ireland and Drogheda in the Republic of Ireland, we also work closely with most major cancer units throughout Northern Ireland and the Crocus Cancer Support Centre in Monaghan, Republic of Ireland. Republic of Ireland Hair Grants

Tresses are the only company in Northern Ireland that is able to supply wigs under the ROI Grant Schemes.

In the Republic of Ireland, the HSE will pay €770 a year towards the cost of a wig or hair piece.

This allowance is only for people who have hair loss from cancer treatment and the only requirement to apply is a doctors letter.

Available in the Republic of Ireland, this grant provides an annual allowance of up to €500 is available for a single hair replacement item, such as a wig or hairpiece, per calendar year.

It was pleasant experience meeting her, how she put her heart into making me comfortable with looks of the wigs and she gave very honest suggestions. The girl just called me in and was very helpful and patient with me as every wig I tried on was just not for me. She then decided to order one for me. When I went to collect it I was not expecting much, but when I saw the wig which was ordered for me it was just exactly my hair tone. The girl who accommodated me this time was also very helpful.
